Sarah & Colin live and work in the heart of Minneapolis, so naturally we ran around to some of their favorite spots. We started their engagement session at sunrise, in the gorgeous light on the Stone Arch Bridge, to grab the quintessential Minneapolis shots. We then worked our way towards Boom Island and Nicollet Island. There were just endless photo ops all around the area, and we had a blast walking, laughing, and exploring on such a beautiful day. They’ll have their wedding this summer on Nicollet Island, and I’m very much looking forward to that day.
Katie & Dan were such a great couple to work with. I’m always so lucky to be able to shoot with such down-to-earth, genuinely loving couples, who are beautiful on the inside and out. Speaking of beauty on the inside and out, the Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis is a fantastic place to get hitched for sure. It offers so much history, variety, and classic charm. Katie & Dan’s reception was one of the most energetic and awesome ones that I’ve been a part of. The dancing, laughing, and singing at the top of the lungs went strong from the moment we entered the space. It was epic indeed.
Lindsey and Nick are great people, and you can just tell that they are a perfect match for each other. I first met them as guests of another awesome wedding I was shooting, and got some cool photos of them together on the dance floor. Now it’s their turn to get married and I am honored to be the one to capture all the goodness. For their engagement session we headed over to Wisconsin to shoot at Willow River State Park just outside of Hudson. This is one of my favorite places to shoot for sure.
The perks of proximity… My schedule had me out west to shoot an engagement session in Colorado, and to shoot 4 shows of the Nicholas David & The Avett Brothers tour in the Pacific Northwest. Once their tour leg had ended in Missoula, Montana I was able to sneak over to Yellowstone National Park for a really quick first visit.
On a very late October evening I sat quietly for 90 minutes, under the glowing stars of Yellowstone, waiting to see Old Faithful blow for the first time. I had the camera settings all dialed in for the gorgeous night sky when, unexpectedly, the moon began to break, and rise perfectly over the mountains, pouring on the gorgeous moonlight, just as Old Faithful began to blow. It was one of those magical moments where you just stand in awe of the beauty and wonderment of this world. =D
*If this kind of photography floats your boat I do share a decent amount of other landscape images over on my Facebook page and one here too. I plan on adding a section to this site with a bunch more of my Landscape work as well, if I can ever catch up on my client work. =D
Krista & Nicholas tied the knot yesterday and I had the honor of shooting their big day. Their wedding day has been a long time coming as they had to put it off (originally planned for 2012) due to Nicholas’ amazing run on NBC’s The Voice. This was extra special for me as Nicholas and I go way back, and are brothers from another mother. The ceremony took place at Macalester College in Saint Paul and the reception followed at the Minnesota Zoo. Here’s a quick peek at some of the fun and beauty of yesterday. More images to come…
