These Aster Cafe wedding photos are among my favorite that I’ve had the honor to capture in my 10 years as a Minneapolis Wedding Photographer. Jade & Adam’s Star Wars themed wedding (on May-the-4th-be-with-you) was fun, classy, and also very touching. Their beloved Yorkie, Ted, was battling cancer and was able to just barely hang on until the morning after the wedding day. He was in good spirits on the wedding day and sure looked sharp in his bowtie. These wedding images where an extra honor for me to capture knowing the weight of the situation.
I’ll share some details about this fine Minneapolis wedding venue below, followed by a large collection of images that will walk you through an entire wedding at Aster Cafe.
Aster Cafe Wedding Venue Information:
What makes Aster Cafe an absolutely outstanding Minneapolis wedding venue is first and foremost the location. Sitting on a gorgeous cobblestone street right along the Mississippi River, the Minneapolis skyline sits perfectly right across the bank. The whole area could be a giant Hollywood film set with perfect photo ops in every direction. You have the Stone Arch Bridge, Saint Anthony Main, Father Hennepin Park, the Hennepin Avenue Bridge, Nicollet Island all within walking distant nearby. The unique facade on the outside of Aster Cafe makes a great backdrop as well with it’s beautiful stone exterior and old world cafe touches.
Inside Aster Cafe is equally as beautiful too. With absolutely gorgeous window light pouring in your wedding photos will be lit perfectly. The inside space at Aster is best for smaller more intimate wedding ceremonies and receptions. Around a hundred wedding guests fit inside the space nicely. Be sure to take a stroll in the neighborhood and stop inside for a peek. I think you’ll absolutely love it. I’ll share a large collection of images to help you imagine your own wedding at Aster Cafe below.
Large Collection of Wedding Photos from Aster Cafe:
The large set of images below will help you see what a wedding day at the Aster Cafe would look like.
Getting Ready Photos at the Hewing Hotel
Before heading over to Aster Cafe for the ceremony and reception the wedding party got ready at the buzzing Hewing Hotel. The bridesmaids had an epic pillow fight while jumping on the bed and the boys laughed it up while showing off their well paired wedding day socks. Jade wore a Mira Zwillinger gown from L’atelier Couture Bridal Boutique and her ladies donned Adrianna Papell dresses that seamlessly and subtly fit the Star Wars theme. Adam and his guys were sharp in Heimie’s Haberdashery‘s finest. Jade’s great friend Brooke D. Carl beautifully worked the hair and makeup while the rings were from Arthur’s.
First Look
After the pillow fights and a whole lot of laughter Jade & Adam shared an intimate First Look in the alley behind the Hewing Hotel. They shared this sweet moment before we began all the wedding party and family photos, prior the heading over to Aster Cafe for all the days festivities.
Wedding Ceremony and Reception in the River Room at Aster Cafe
With it’s old world charm, underneath a canopy of trees along the mighty Mississippi, Aster Cafe sits on arguably the most romantic street in all of Minneapolis. It’s fitting too that Aster Cafe’s River Room (where both their ceremony and reception took place) was styled after Parisian cafes, with Adam proposing to Jade in Paris. Artemisa added beautiful floral touches to take things to the next level, and Jade, Adam, and their friends and family created a ton of tasteful and unique DIY elements. The River Room glows with bright window light during the day and becomes warm and intimate after sundown. Everything flowed together perfectly, from the heartfelt ceremony to the light saber battles and craft cocktails that followed.
Sunset Photos along Saint Anthony Main
Choosing such a great location in Aster Cafe allowed Jade & Adam and I to sneak away quickly during sunset to hit all the Saint Anthony Main highlights including the old time brick of Main Street, the views along the river, and both the Stone Arch Bridge and Hennepin Avenue Bridge.
Wedding Toasts and Dancing the Night Away
After touching wedding speeches Jade & Adam danced and laughed it up with their bridal party, family, and friends during the tail end of their reception. To end the evening Jade & Adam took an Umbrella lit (Jade’s DIY handiwork) stroll down Main Street and took in the beautiful Minneapolis Skyline at night. RIP Ted, and May the 4th be with Jade & Adam always.
Fun Fact: These Aster Cafe wedding photos weren’t my first Star Wars themed wedding. I also shot one way back in 2012. See those fun wedding photos here: http://www.aframeforward.com/jess-joe-stillwater-mn-wedding/
