James Vincent McMorrow is truly amazing. I was pumped to shoot his Post Tropical tour stop at First Avenue in Minneapolis on November 13th, 2014. I caught him at the Cedar Cultural Center previously and was just blown away. He’s one of those artists that is even better live. The audience hangs on every note and nuance of his voice, totally enthralled. It’s a spiritual experience no doubt.
James was super stoked to be playing at the iconic Minneapolis night club aka “the house that Prince built” aka First Ave. He was gushing and giddy about Prince’s history there. He absolutely captivated the packed main room, and as always cleverly managed to work in his signature (and underrated) witty humor and banter. He’s really great. Catch him live sometime for sure and check out more of his tunage here.
Update: JVM is coming back to First Avenue on Friday, November 18th, 2016 too. Hoping my schedule will allow me to go. Maybe I’ll see you there.
